Fuller Goes No. 14 To Chicago

Kyle Fuller was selected by the Chicago Bears with the No. 14 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. He was the fourth ACC player taken and the second in a row after Pitt defensive tackle Aaron Donald went No. 13.

The Virginia Tech cornerback, much like Donald, climbed the draft boards after great showings in combines and workouts. He missed the final six games of Virginia Tech’s season in 2013, but he grabbed two interceptions in the first seven games of his senior year.

Fuller joins a Chicago defense that’s coming off a rare down year. The Bears have had one of the best defenses in the league in recent years, but it ranked among the worst in 2013. Charles Tillman has a stronghold on one of the corner positions, but Fuller should be able to take over for Tim Jennings on the other side of the field. Expect Fuller to also play some nickelback in certain formations during his rookie season.

The Bears faced numerous injuries throughout last season. At full strength, and with the addition of a lockdown cornerback in Fuller, the Bears should be back at the top of defensive rankings next year.
