Earlier this week offensive tackle Anthony Palazzolo became the first commitment in Steve Addazio's 2015 recruiting class. The 6-6, 295 pound lineman told Rivals.com last month that Boston College was his top choice and he backed that statement up with a verbal commitment on Monday.

Palazzolo had offers from Pittsburgh and Connecticut and was receiving interest from Maryland, Miami and Nebraska, among other teams.

This commitment is a strong statement for Addazio, as his team will have to replace at least five players on the line in 2015. By landing Palazzolo so early, it seems clear that the offensive line is going to be a focus for this class.

The Fairfield College Prep School player is a four-star Rivals.com prospect and a three-star Scout.com lineman. Rivals also pegs Palazzolo as the No. 29 offensive tackle in the 2015 class, while 247Sports ranks him as the third best player in the state of Connecticut for his class.

Palazzolo told EagleAction.com that he knew since his sophomore year in high school that he wanted to go to Boston College.

"I just didn't know when it would be," he said. "I kinda looked at all my options and I thought it would be the best fit for me. It's close to home and just an all-around great school that I see myself at."

He also talked about what kind of a player he saw himself as.

"I like to put people on the ground," he said. "I think every lineman likes to do that. I'm sorta an all-around guy. I can block people pretty hard but I can also pass set pretty well. To me I fit them well. They were a pretty run heavy team this year with Andre Williams in the Heisman race."

Palazzolo has still not talked with Addazio personally--tight ends coach Frank Leonard was his primary recruiter--but is planning on doing so when he travels to the school on February 12 for the Notre Dame-Boston College basketball game.
