Signing day is rapidly approaching. There's a lot to cover as teams gear up for the big day. Let's jump in.
Malachi Dupre is one of the top wide receivers in the 2014 class. The five-star WR, who remains uncommitted, is scheduled for a visit to Florida State next weekend. LSU appears to be his favorite, but the Noles are well positioned here, too.
For the past three seasons, E.J. Scott played wide receiver at Virginia. After graduation, however, the former Cavalier has decided to take his one year of remaining eligibility and transfer to Wake Forest. While in Charlottesville, Scott amassed 32 receptions for 429 yards and three touchdowns.
Seventeen schools, including N.C. State, Georgia Tech, Clemson and Maryland, have offered Jaylen Brown - a five-star SF in the 2015 recruiting class. Brown plays his prep ball for Marietta (Ga.) Wheeler (same place to produce J.J. Hickson and Richard Howell) - one of the top high school basketball programs in the country. Check him out in action here.
Folks up in Chestnut Hill are fired up their incoming 2014 recruiting class, which is the first full class of Steve Addazio. The #Dudes are coming, you guys.
The No. 7 linebacker in the 2015 class, according to Scout.com, De'Amontae Jackson has a dozen offers. However, as he heads into the second half of his junior season, Jackson named five schools he'd like to visit: Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Auburn and Florida State - Noles have the in-state advantage, too.
The 6-1, 305-pound DT Derrick Nnadi - a four-star prospect - is seen as a Virginia Tech lean, but is Florida State closing the gap?
Three-star DB Grant Haley committed to Vanderbilt back in July. That's back when things were different, though; James Franklin was still the head coach. Now that Franklin has accepted Penn State job, Vandy's 2014 recruiting class is being shook up. The Blue Devils are now going after Haley - who, as of Jan. 16, was still committed to the Commodores.
This is pretty cool: Joel Berry - a UNC signee - and Orlando (Fla.) Lake Highland Prep will square off against Grayson Allen - a Duke signee - and Jacksonville (Fla.) Providence this Saturday as part of the Wally Keller Classic at Punta Gorda Charlotte. Get ready, boys. This will be the first of many times you guys go heads up.
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are the most recent school to offer a scholarship to Duke Shelley - a four-star DB from Tucker, Ga. The Clemson Tigers are considered the favorite for Shelley, though.
Bobby Petrino is wasting no time hitting the ground running at Louisville; now that the dead period is over, the new Cardinals staff is - starting today - all over the state of Florida.
Lamont Gaillard - a product of Fayetteville (N.C.) Pine Forest - committed to Georgia in late July. The four-star defensive tackle claims his verbal with the Bulldogs is solid, but Gaillard has scheduled a visit to Miami next weekend, so, yeah, we'll see, I guess.
There have been some minor shakeups on the Virginia coach staff, but three-star running back Jordan Ellis says his commitment to the Cavs remains as strong as ever.
