COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) _ Needing a victory to become bowl-eligible, Maryland was 92 yards from the end zone with 4:50 left in a tie game with North Carolina State.
To make matters worse, the field was soaked and the ball was slippery from a downpour that lasted much of the afternoon.
