Dave:

I’ve been around long enough to remember three ACC basketball teams (maybe the first three?) that entered the NCAA Tournament ranked as the No. 1 team in the nation, and I know that was the case with UNC this year.

All three of those early teams – UNC in 1957, N.C. State in 1974, and UNC again in 1982 – went on to win the NCAA championship.
