Media Watch: TV Listings, Week 5
This week’s rating news can be good or bad, depending on whether your glass is half full or half empty.
On one hand, the 3.1 rating pulled by Florida-State and Wake Forest as part of ABC’s regional coverage is a victory in that it marks just the second time in five weeks this season that the network’s 3:30 p.m. time slot has drawn higher than a 3.0 rating.
On the other, it should be noted that most of the country was watching either UCLA’s entertaining upset of Texas or Ohio State beating up on Eastern Michigan, And even despite that, the numbers posted by ABC were still beaten easily by the 5.4 rating put up by Alabama and Arkansas in a similar time slot on CBS.
Hopefully, the ratings for last Thursday night’s game between Miami and Pittsburgh will turn out to be stronger. The ACC also had a chance to draw some better numbers this week with an intriguing matchup between N.C. State and Virginia Tech on the network docket, along with the always popular Notre Dame-Boston College game.
