Maryland fans are restless, and it’s easy to understand why.
Gary Williams always will be considered a “national championship coach,” thanks to the Terrapins’ run to the 2002 NCAA title with Steve Blake, Juan Dixon, Lonny Baxter and Company, but Maryland no longer is a consistent contender for even the Top 25. (Three of the last four seasons have ended in the NIT.) Worse, the inner workings of the program have become an embarrassment at times, especially on the recruiting trail.
