Boston College (Tyrese Rice) and Virginia (Sean Singletary) both proved last year that it’s possible, even with a superstar point guard, to finish at the bottom of the ACC. Now the Eagles hope to avoid the same fate in 2008-09.
BC coach Al Skinner, whose team missed the NCAA Tournament for just the second time in the last eight seasons a year ago, has built his program largely on the principles of mental and physical toughness. The Eagles’ time in the rough-and-tumble Big East, before they joined the ACC, served only to reinforce that kind of approach to the game.
