Last year, the Yellow Jackets had nine players good enough to play significant minutes, but not a single player good enough to separate himself from the pack. When everyone looks alike in terms of quality, everyone thinks he should play, and everyone thinks he should get the ball. It’s an unusual situation.
This season, the Jackets have no such complications. Tech has only eight active, recruited players on scholarship — the NCAA allows 13 in men’s basketball, and most programs recruit to that limit — and there’s plenty of separation from the top of the roster to the bottom.
