Yellow Jackets Add Another Interior OL

We've talked about it in this space before: Paul Johnson needs talented offensive linemen to run his triple option attack. Last night, the Yellow Jackets added another one: Gary Brown - three-star guard from Tampa (Fla.) Alonso High.

At 6-1, 290 pounds Brown certainly seems to have the right body type to fit into the Yellow Jackets' offense. Playing guard for Johnson requires a lot. They must have the ability to pull off the line and get out on the perimeter. Brown doesn't seem to have a problem shouldering a lot of weight, though; he has a reported max squat weight of 555 pounds - which, wow, is a lot.

Brown is the 18th commit in Johnson's 2014 class - and the fourth from Florida. In the last three weeks, Tech has added three interior linemen: Jake Whitley, Andrew Marshall, and now Brown.

Gaining the services of Brown, who is rated by 247Sports as the No. 68 offensive guard in the nation, was no easy task, either. The Tampa-native had offers from 18 FBS schools, including Nebraska, N.C. State, Missouri, and Maryland.
