ACC basketball rotations for the next two years were released on Tuesday, and some schedules are easier than others in the coming seasons. Each school will play a home-and-home against its two traditional partners, another pair of home-and-homes against two other conference opponents and one game against each of the other 10 league teams with five matchups being played at home and five on the road.
In its second year as a member of the ACC, Notre Dame drew one of the easier slates. While the Irish have to play Duke twice next season, they’ll also get two shots at Clemson, Georgia Tech and Boston College. Mike Brey’s team also won’t have to travel to Syracuse or Virginia.
ACC newcomer Louisville enters the league with a pair of challenging home-and-homes with Virginia and North Carolina, but Syracuse will be the only other top-tier conference team the Cardinals have to play on the road on their 2014-15 schedule.
After its traditional home-and-home with Duke last season and trips to Syracuse and Virginia, North Carolina faces a lighter load next year. The Heels have to face ACC newcomer Louisville twice, but other road foes include Miami, Clemson, Wake Forest, Pitt and Boston College. UNC also faces Duke, N.C. State and Georgia Tech twice each.
After finishing dead last in the conference two years in a row, Virginia Tech could be on its way to a three-peat as league bottom-dweller. The Hokies will square off twice with rival Virginia and also play Syracuse both at home and on the road during the 2014-15 season. Furthermore, Buzz Williams will have his work cut out for him during his inaugural year at VT with road contests at North Carolina and Louisville.
