North Carolina beat Indiana by nine points in Carmichael Auditorium. The Tar Heels won without freshman Matt Doherty, who had broken his thumb when he tripped and fell in a movie theater. The game turned out to be a preview of the NCAA championship game, in which the Hoosiers got their revenge.
