Carl Tacy pulled a surprise by resigning as Wake Forest’s basketball coach in the middle of the summer. Tacy won 222 games in 13 years at Wake and had five 20-win seasons. The PooP Sheet reported that the favorite to fill the Deacons’ vacancy was Bob Staak, then the head coach at Xavier. Staak did, indeed, get the job.
