Watkins Selected Fourth By Bills

Thursday, May 8, 2014 8:48pm

Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins was the first ACC player off the board in the 2014 NFL Draft. He was selected fourth overall by the Buffalo Bills, who made a trade with the Cleveland Browns to move up and select him.

ESPN analyst and former Pro Bowl linebacker Ray Lewis called Watkins “the most exciting player in the draft.” Watkins caught 101 passes for 1,464 yards and 12 touchdowns in his junior season at Clemson.

Watkins should walk into a starting position in Buffalo. The current starting wide receivers on the roster are Stevie Johnson, T.J. Graham and Mike Williams. He’ll team up with former Florida State quarterback E.J. Manuel to form a dynamic and young passer-catcher duo.

The Bills administration thought so highly of Watkins that they traded next year's first-round pick to snag him.

It appears that Manuel is excited about the selection.
