This summer, it looked as though Bill O'Brien and Penn State were the leaders for running back Qadree Ollison. Those days, however, are clearly over. Yesterday - September 9th, Ollison, a three-star running back, committed to Pittsburgh.
It also looks as though head man Paul Chryst has picked up a good one, too. The Buffalo, New York native has great size - 6-1, 225 pounds - for a tailback. Despite that combination of height and weight, Ollison can still fly; he has been clocked in the 4.5s in the 40-yard dash - which, according to my calculations, is very fast.
247Sports.com has Ollison ranked as the No. 47 running back in the 2014 class, and as the No. 4 overall prospect in the state of New York. They aren't the only recruiting service that thinks highly of Ollison, though; Rivals has him slotted as the top running back recruit in New York.
Ollison was on Pitt's campus for an official visit two Saturdays ago, and liked what he saw. The opportunity for immediate playing time was, ostensibly, a huge factor in his decision process, too.
As a junior last season, Ollison ran for a record-breaking 1,876 yards and 26 touchdowns at Canisius (N.Y) High School.
