Syracuse landed the commitment of three-star offensive lineman Aaron Roberts this weekend. Roberts, a 6-foot-5, 295-pound behemoth, comes from Chicago (Il.) De La Salle Institute.
Roberts was on hand to watch Syracuse take on Clemson on an official visit this weekend, and even though Clemsonrouted the Orange, that didn’t deter Roberts from making his commitment.
“I picked Syracuse because I felt the most comfortable here,” Roberts told Rivals.com. “It feels like a big family here.”
He shared the news with the public via Twitter.
I HAVE OFFICIALLY COMMITTED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF SYRACUSE!!!! #CuseNation— Aaron Roberts (@D1_Roberts) October 6, 2013
He also had offers from Illinois, Ball State, Eastern Illinois, Indiana State, New Mexico, North Dakota State and Southern Illinois. Illinois was Syracuse’s main competition for Roberts. He is Syracuse’s first OL commit in the Class of 2014, and he brings the Orange's class total up to 13.
Check out his highlights here. It shows a lot of Roberts’ ability to get pancakes in both run and pass blocking, so he could be a valuable asset to the Orange in future years.
