Pittsburgh has started building its 2015 class with the commitment of Damon Wilson, a 6-foot-4, 180-pound southpaw. He's from Powder Springs (Ga.) but goes to school in Our Saviour New American in Centereach (N.Y.).
With his size, he has the versatility to be a combo guard at the 1 and the 2. Wilson can either take on smaller point guards or hold his own against other shooting guards.
“Damon is a pass-first type of guard," Our Savior coach Eric Jaklitsch told ZagsBlog.com. "He could grow to almost 6-6 by the time he graduates in June of 2015 and enrolls at Pitt. Damon has a high basketball IQ, a pass-first mentality and a strong will to win. He can also get to the basket and score when he needs to . What is one of his biggest assets is that he is a lefty and is more difficult to defend.”
Rivals.com gives Wilson four stars, while Scout.com only gives Wilson three. In addition to Pitt, Wilson held offers from Florida, FSU, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Miami, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Alabama and Stanford.
