Offensive tackle Sean Christie committed to Maryland over the weekend, becoming the 13th commit in the Terps' 2014 class.
His commitment comes shortly after Maryland missed out on two prospects, Brock Ruble, who chose FSU, and Marcus Applefield, who chose Rutgers. The coaching staff then offered Christie, who is from Medford (N.Y.) Patchogue-Medford.
At 6-foot-5, 270 pounds, Christie has solid size for his position. But he's relatively unknown, as he's unranked on all major recruiting services. His only other offer was Albany, so he'll have to prove himself on the collegiate level.
Randy Edsall has clearly priotized the offensive line in recruiting with commitments from Christie, as well as Larry Mazyck, Derwin Gray, Brendan Moore and Jared Cohen. Of course, the crown jewel for Maryland would be Damian Prince, a blue chipper who is still a couple months from deciding.
Maryland has three seniors on the offensive line, including starting guard De'Onte Arnett and backups G.T. Harraka and Nick Klemm. They were part of a line that gave up 24 sacks on the year.
