Miami currently has the ACC's top recruiting class...in the class of 2016.
As is the trend recently, recruiting is starting earlier, and it's not uncommon to see freshmen and sophomores receive scholarship offers. It is, however, fairly uncommon to see some of these players make their verbal commitments this early.
Running back Mark Walton from Miami (Fl.) Booker T. Washington joined DB Chauncey Gardner as the first two commits for the Hurricanes' class of 2016. For perspective, UNC is the only other ACC school with a committed 2016 player, and it only has one.
“I’ve grown up loving Miami and getting an offer from them and having the opportunity to go there, I always said that’s the school I would go to,” Walton told the Sun Sentinel. “Today was just the day I was thinking about everything, and I just wanted to do it. My parents wanted me to wait, but I said I knew where I wanted to go.”
But it's not as if Walton isn't highly regarded, even at his young age. He is the running back for the No. 1 team in the country, according to USA Today. He also has offers from Florida State and West Virginia. Booker T. Washington has produced a lot of football talent, many of whom choose Miami.
