David Glenn: ‘McCants needs to own up to his participation’

With former UNC shooting guard Rashad McCants recently stating that some of his college papers were written by tutors and claiming he believes coach Roy Williams was aware of it, David Glenn weighed in on the topic during his radio show on Friday. While the radio host believes that the university itself deserves most of the blame, he also feels that student-athletes who took part in the scandal deserve criticism as well.

“Rashad McCants needs to own up to his participation in what has become, obviously, a he-said, she-said version of whatever he experienced in Chapel Hill,” Glenn said.

Former Tar Heel athletes Marvin Austin and P.J. Hairston were among others mentioned on the show as past rule-breakers who haven’t always accepted accountability for the rules they’ve broken. Austin was dismissed from North Carolina’s football team in 2010 for a variety of violations, while the school opted not to apply for Hairston’s reinstatement to the basketball court this past December after he was dishonest with the NCAA about the amount of illicit benefits he had accepted from a convicted felon.
