Deshaun Watson, the No. 1 quarterback recruit in the country and Clemson commit, just got a serious weapon in four-star WR Demarre Kitt.
Kitt tweeted to Watson on Thursday, “Aye bro…are you ready to break records together?” The Tyrone (GA) Sandy Creek standout then declared “I am officially committed to #clemson university.”
That’s one way to get the word out.
So why Clemson?
Kitt was projected by scouting experts to make the move to Death Valley and join Dabo Swinney’s Tigers, after de-committing from Georgia. He said this time around, it came down to two schools.
"I went back and forth with Clemson and Ohio State for a while,” Kitt told Scout.com’s Chad Simmons. “Then it just went back to Clemson all the way. I talked to them a lot, and I started feeling it would be Clemson this spring. I just had better communication with them, I felt most comfortable with them, and after my visit there on Wednesday, I knew it was where I needed to be."
Kitt said he appreciated how hard the Clemson coaching staff had been working to get him, and also factored in Clemson's proximity to his home in Georgia.
In signing Kitt, the Tigers move into the No. 7 recruiting class in the country (per Rivals.com).
"Let me put it this way; we are going to have a very good recruiting class,” Kitt said. “That's all I'm going to say.”
At 6’1, 195 pounds, Rivals.com rates him the nation’s No. 8 wide receiver prospect, and the 68th overall player in his class (ESPN Top 150 has him at No. 99). He becomes Clemson’s sixth four-star recruit to sign for 2014, and the ninth overall. Eight of those nine are offensive players.
