College basketball coaches eagerly anticipate the 15 days in July in which they are allowed to observe and evaluate prospects.
What happens during this month will go a long way toward cementing the reputations of elite recruits. But they've also put in time and work in April through June establishing their credentials. That's what these rankings are based upon. We'll come back and revisit them after the July events have been completed.
Among the individuals whose national status has risen the most this spring are 6-8 TX WF Justin Jackson (verbally committed to North Carolina), 6-6 CA WF Stanley Johnson, 6-5 MN WG Rashad Vaughn, 6-11 TX C Myles Turner and 6-5 TX WF Kelly Oubre. The last four haven’t yet reached a college decision. Moving in the other direction with falling rankings are 5-9 CA PG Parker Jackson-Cartwright (an Arizona commitment who’s no longer in our top 50), 6-4 FL WG D’Angelo Russell (committed to Ohio State),and 6-3 FL WG Grayson Allen (committed to Duke), among others.
