ACC In The NFL, Nov. 13

The Atlanta Falcons have been pretty bad for the majority of the season, but up until a few weeks ago, Matt Ryan (Boston College) was his usual excellent self. Now, it looks like the struggles of his team are taking a toll on the quarterback.

Meanwhile, fellow Boston College graduate Luke Kuechly is being praised as one of the game's best linebackers by one of the games best quarterbacks - Tom Brady. The Patriot captain said that Kuechly played a similar style to Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and Zach Thomas.

C.J. Spiller (Clemson) was battling an ankle injury for most of the season, but it looks like he will be splitting time with Fred Jackson even now when he is fully healthy.

Thad Lewis (Duke) could still get some time under center for the Bills this season even though first-round pick EJ Manuel (Florida State) is starting again. Lewis has actually slightly outperformed Manuel in completion percentage, yards gained per passing attempt and passer rating.

Speaking of Manuel, check out what Lawrence Timmons (Florida State) did to him over the weekend.

The NFL's greatest all-time receiver, Jerry Rice, weighed in on the NFL's current top receiver, Calvin Johnson (Georgia Tech). Rice said that Johnson still has a long way to go if he wants to break his records, but he acknowledges that the Detroit receiver continues to improve.

Torrey Smith (Maryland) had what turned out to be the game-winning touchdown this weekend as the Ravens took on the Cincinnati Bengals. You can check out the catch here.

While trying to deal with a foot injury, Jimmy Graham (Miami) is also trying to adjust to a more limited role within the New Orleans Saints offense.

Hakeem Nicks' (North Carolina) future with the New York Giants could be over after his contract expires this season. This writer thinks that the Oakland Raiders, Carolina Panthers and the Philadelphia Eagles could all be good fits for the receiver.

Giants safety Antrel Rolle (Miami) said that teammate Andre Brown (N.C. State) was the "player of the game, by far" in New York's 24-20 win over the Raiders. The running back rushed for 115 yards and scored the go-ahead touchdown.

Sticking with our New York Giants trend, Justin Tuck (Notre Dame) also had a huge impact in the Oakland game, even if that impact doesn't show up on the stat sheet.

LeSean McCoy (Pittsburgh) had another typical day for the Eagles, racking up 155 yards including an impressive 71 yards after contact.

Steve Gregory (Syracuse) was the only player missing from practice Tuesday for the New England Patriots. Gregory broke his wrist during Week Nine, but he could play next Monday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Matt Schaub (Virginia) has been all over the rumor mill throughout the season, and that doesn't stop this week. Heath Miller is another former Virginia player who had a rough week. Miller dropped a couple passes and was beaten often on the line of scrimmage during the Steelers' 23-10 win over Buffalo.

With Nick Foles erupting at quarterback over the past two weeks, Michael Vick (Virginia Tech) says he is just going to try get healthy and avoid being a distraction to the team.

Tyson Clabo (Wake Forest) started at right tackle for the Miami Dolphins in the wake of the Richie Incognito/Jonathan Martin situation.
