Well, it wasn't pretty, but Clemson avoided "Clemsoning", and N.C. State fans have to be pretty pleased with what they saw from the Wolfpack defense as well. All the details and more below!

Boston College
BC Interruption discusses the impending decision to name the new live eagle mascot "Welles" after Welles Remy Crowther, a Boston College graduate who gave the ultimate sacrifice on 9/11 in saving many people's lives. The Eagles will also need a good bye week to prepare for Florida State next weekend.

Clemson
The Tigers knocked off N.C. State last night at Carter-Finley Stadium, but it was more of an "escape". Hey, at least they avoided Clemsoning.

Duke
QB Anthony Boone is still out from a broken collarbone, and now starting safety Corbin McCarthy may not be able to play this weekend against Pittsburgh because of a turned ankle.

Florida State

The Noles are finalizing preparation for its opponent this weekend - Bethune Cookman. While BC may not strike fear in the heart of Seminoles fans (the Wildcats do strike fear in Florida International, who they thrashed 34-13 last weekend), FSU will be without two defensive starters. I somehow think they will manage to win handily still.

Georgia Tech
Head coach Paul Johnson and his offense are displaying a few new wrinkles this season for opponents to digest.

Maryland
The Terps unveiled its new red "Pride" uniforms and they are nothing short of magnificent looking. The hand-painted helmets are an absolute work of art. In actual football news, the players are excited to play West Virginia this weekend in an NFL stadium.

Miami

The Hurricanes are on track to land the best class in the country in football for 2014. The Canes are also a whopping 60 point favorites over Savannah State. That's five dozen points for those amateur mathematicians at home.

North Carolina
Most Tar Heel fans are hoping Coach Fedora will make some defensive adjustments from last year's Georgia Tech game that resulted in 68 points allowed. Keeping It Heel dishes some knowledge on what the Heels can do to slow the Jackets high powered offense down.

N.C. State
The Pack battled No.3 Clemson well last night on Thursday Night Football, but everything had to go right to win the game. That didn't happen, and Backing The Pack looked again at the long touchdown run called out-of-bounds (possibly incorrectly) by Bryan Underwood.

Notre Dame
It will be a gameday decision as to whether or not DE Sheldon Day will be able to go against the Michigan State Spartans this weekend.

Pittsburgh
The Panthers pop up as 10th on the ESPN ACC Power Rankings. Cardiac Hill examines road tripping to Durham to watch the Duke-Pitt game tomorrow.

Syracuse
Although the Eagles fell to the Chiefs last night, former Cuse QB Donovan McNabb had his No.5 jersey retired. The Syracuse-Tulane game will be in front of a NATIONAL AUDIENCE this weekend - well, kind of.

Virginia
The Wahoos take on the VMI Keydets this weekend, who are 0-26 all-time against FBS teams, here is a preview of what the Keydets bring to the table.

Virginia Tech
Umm, OK ... the Hokies will unveil a "Hokies Stone" helmet at some point, modeled after the limestone that makes up a lot of the buildings on the Blacksburg campus.

Wake Forest
Dan Collins will reserve judgment on the final player in the Deacs 2014 basketball class, but he is not impressed with the pickup of SG Rondale Watson by embattled coach Jeff Bzdelik.
