The Tar Heels lose late to the No. 10 Hurricanes last night in a good one - 27-24. On to the next one, though: uh, is there a game tomorrow night that anyone is interested in watching? Start preparing yourselves now - skip work or class if need be - for 8 p.m. Saturday night: No. 5 FSU at No.3 Clemson. Whoa, Nellie - it should be a dandy (Keith Jackson voice).

Boston College
Steve Donahue's Eagles will have to play a total of nine teams ranked in the Top 25 of the USA Today Preseason Coaches Poll, which was released yesterday, including three out-of-conference opponents: VCU (15), UConn (19) and potentially Indiana (24). It appears that BC's scheduled home-and-home series with Ohio State has been pushed back until 2023-2024.

Clemson
When the Tigers and Seminoles square off in primetime tomorrow night, it will add another chapter to a gridiron rivalry that goes back 25 years. Back-up cornerback Garry Peters - a junior - will miss the FSU game with a foot injury. Boom - preview time for the contest!

Duke
Get to better know this week's opponent: the 2-4 Virginia Cavaliers. It hasn't been easy, but head coach David Cutcliffe has revolutionized Duke Football; he's converted the Blue Devils into a winning program.

Florida State
ESPN's Todd McShay breaks down (video) tomorrow night's GAME OF THE CENTURY as the Seminoles head into Death Valley. The hype for the Florida State-Clemson showdown has been vast - rightfully so, I suppose - but the Noles are staying very relaxed for a game that has serious national title implications.

Georgia Tech
Yesterday, the NCAA granted a hardship waiver for Tennessee transfer Trae Golden, which will allow the senior to play ball for the Yellow Jackets this season. Georgia Tech's passing game has stalled, and Paul Johnson's crew has dropped three straight. Can they get back on the right track tomorrow against Syracuse?

Maryland
Linebacker Alex Twine was injured twice last weekend during the Terps' win over UVa; the injuries sustained will force him to sit out tomorrow against Wake Forest, which means freshman Cavon Walker will likely start. Shhhhh...don't tell anyone: Maryland will host Villanova in a "secret" hoops scrimmage this Sunday.

Miami
Running back Dallas Crawford was a beast (Marshawn Lynch would be proud) in the Hurricanes' 27-23 victory in Kenan Stadium last night: 137 rushing yards, and two touchdowns. The offense made big plays when it counted last night, but after the game, head coach Al Golden made sure to praise his defense, too.

North Carolina
ZERO DARK THURSDAY was almost a success, but the Tar Heels lose to Miami, thanks to a Dallas Crawford TD run with 16 seconds left in the game. In the losing effort, Heels TE Eric Ebron still managed to wow NFL scouts with a record-setting performance: eight receptions (a career high) 199 yards (a UNC record for a TE) and a touchdown. The Tar Heels actually had some success last night rotating their top two quarterbacks - Bryn Renner and Marquise Williams.

N.C. State
Fun with small sample sizes: Brandon Mitchells' career QB rating is a robust 155.7, which would rank in the top 25 nationally. Because of his lack of snaps taken/passing attempts that may not be statistically significant, but the Pack will need Mitchell next week against FSU. The Oregon Ducks - juggernauts of the college football jersey revolution - will be wearing pink helmets during the month of October for breast cancer awareness, and the school has teamed up with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund to auction off the head gear - with 100% of the proceeds going to the fund. Russell Wilson threw for three TDs as the Seattle Seahawks beat the Arizona Cardinals 34-22 last night.

Notre Dame
Head coach Brian Kelly weighed-in on the Stephon Tuitt-NFL situation after yesterday's practice.

Pittsburgh
According to head coach Jamie Dixon, the basketball landscapes of the ACC and the old Big East have a lot of similarities. Here's a look at the Panthers' injury report for tomorrow's game against Old Dominion, which includes an update on stud WR Devin Street.

Syracuse
Last night, the Orange picked up a 2015 top 100 basketball recruit: Tyler Lydon. Starting LB Dyshawn Davis, who injured his ankle against N.C. State week, will miss tomorrow's game against Georgia Tech because of the injury.

Virginia
It's been a rough time on the football pitch for the Cavs in 2013, but QB David Watford appears to be taking some steps forward in his progression

Virginia Tech
Here's a neat breakdown of WR Kalvin Cline's touchdown grab last week against Pitt, which was the first of his career.

Wake Forest
Here's a preview for this weekend's showdown between 5-1 Maryland and the 3-3 Demon Deacons. Cornerback Kevin Johnson grew up with is current teammate Michael Campanaro, and he says their constant battles - both back home in high school and at Wake - have made him a better, more complete player.
