This is it! Just three more days until college football is back with North Carolina representing the ACC against South Carolina. This should be a fun week.

Boston College

Steve Addazio has named Kasim Edebali and Ian White the team captains for 2013. Here is ESPN’s season preview of Boston College. From the Boston Globe, Steve Addazio has ushered in a new era at Boston College, and it’s one of change.

Clemson

USA Today has Clemson ranked as the 10th best team in the country in its national rundown. Tajh Boyd bought into Dabo Swinney’s plan several years ago and all goes according to plan, there could be a perfect ending this year.

Duke

David Cutcliffe has announced that Anthony Boone, Ross Cockrell, Justin Foxx and Dave Harding are the team captains for the year.

Florida State

Jimbo Fisher finally made the decision that everyone foresaw for months – Jameis Winston will be the starting quarterback. Coley Harvey says the quarterback battle was the only true position battle in the offseason. Tyler Hunter is thriving with a position change from cornerback to safety under new defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt. USA Today has Florida State ranked No. 8 in the country, which means they have the Noles above Clemson. Also from Harvey, Nick Waisome is embracing the role as the “lockdown corner” on and off the field.

Georgia Tech

An offseason video series called “The Process” by the football program has given some interesting insight into the program. This writer thinks Georgia Tech has a legitimate shot at winning the Coastal Division and making the ACC title game. Here’s a preview of Georgia Tech from the Georgia perspective.

Louisville

We don’t usually post Louisville stuff since they’re not part of the conference yet, but this article is super interesting. It’s about how Louisville’s amazing athletic rise recently is tied to a partnership with ESPN.

Maryland

Maryland picked up a commitment from defensive end Jesse Aniebonam, one of the top players from Maryland. A junior college offensive lineman committed to Maryland over the weekend in addition to Aniebonam. Four football players were awarded scholarships over the weekend for their contributions to the program.

Miami

One of the biggest strengths this year for the Hurricanes will be their size and experience on the offensive line. There have been some changes with student tickets and policies with the football team this fall.

North Carolina

Even though Steve Spurrier hasn’t coached at Duke in a couple decades, he says he still gets fired up to play UNC. Here’s a quick guide from the Charlotte Observer on UNC’s season. Even after a great junior year, Bryn Renner still sees room for improvement. Quinshad Davis is excited to go back to his home state and take on South Carolina on Thursday. Kareem Martin has been through a lot in his first three years to become the leader of the Tar Heel defense. In the NFL, guard Jonathan Cooper may be out for the season after breaking his leg in the Cardinals’ preseason game against San Diego.

N.C. State

One of the Wolfpack’s top committed recruits, Jeff Gibson, has decommitted and wants to reconsider his college choice. Here is a season preview of N.C. State from the News & Observer. On Friday, defensive tackle K’Hadree Hooker decided to transfer to East Carolina. Dave Doeren is showing signs of turning N.C. State into a much stronger team than in the recent past. Notre Dame

Notre Dame has been finding more and more success recruiting areas where SEC schools typically draw from. Davonte Neal, who transferred to Arizona, is still waiting to hear from the NCAA about his eligibility. In the majors, Cubs manager Dale Sveum says pitcher Jeff Samardzija succeeds on the diamond because of his football mentality.

Pittsburgh

When Pittsburgh faces Florida State in Week One, they will battle for a win but also to help Fanconi anemia, a rare blood disease that Jimbo Fisher’s son has.

Syracuse

Here are five things the basketball team learned on its four-game tour of Canada. Former linebacker Keith Bulluck was arrested for robbery in Tennessee on Sunday. Running back Jerome Smith is confident in his football team and doesn’t think they’ll take a step back this year.

Virginia

Tight end Jake McGee is working to find more playing time, writes Doug Doughty. Defensive coordinator Jon Tenuta has brought a new pressure to the team on and off the field. This story looks at starting quarterback David Watford and his journey at Virginia.

Virginia Tech
