GREENSBORO — It was merely a statistic, but the fact that it coincided with
the basketball coaching changes within the ACC demonstrated the point. When
Duke and Maryland lost in the Sweet 16, it was the first time since 1979 and
Black Sunday that the conference failed to place at least one team in the regional
