CHESTNUT HILL — Even the most pessimistic Boston College fan realizes there’s only one direction the team can go from last season.

After making the NCAA Tournament for four straight years, coach Al Skinner’s club flat-lined in 2007-08, finishing 14-17 overall and tied with N.C. State (at 4-12) in the ACC basement.

What caused the dramatic drop? Well, most people would point to the fact that the team had a very youthful look to it, after the departures of ACC player of the year Jared Dudley and fiery guard Sean Marshall. In fact, four of BC’s top six scorers last season were true freshmen.
