About Us

Dedicated To All Our Loyal Readers
Your Indispensable Pipeline To Hidden Truths And Expert Analysis

In August 1977, when the first edition of The PooP Sheet hit the press, many wondered if our unique publication would last 30 days. Yet here we are, still going strong, as we kick off our 31st year! What an incredible ride!!

It all has been made possible because of the loyal ACC following everywhere, and because of the many fans who want to read interesting news and insights -- good AND bad -- about their favorite players, coaches, teams, opponents and recruits. Thanks to you, the ACC Area Sports Journal (you can still call it The PooP Sheet if you like) gradually has evolved into one of the most successful, longest-running and best-selling college sports magazines in the history of the publishing industry!

Here's a sampling of what we reported in recent years:

* Hundreds of media outlets cover the North Carolina basketball program, but only one - led by award-winning editor David Glenn - had the information, guts and platform to print the unadulterated truth about the Matt Doherty era in Chapel Hill. (Indeed, copies of Glenn's articles were reviewed by university officials at UNC's Board of Trustees meetings, where they were described as the secret, ugly truth about the inner workings of the program. Weeks later, Doherty was forced to resign.) While the national media repeatedly emphasized the coach's "rock-solid" job security at the time and dismissed whispers of inner turmoil as "bad rumors," we told you otherwise and provided the details. When the players consistently told the local media that everything was OK, we told you that many of those same players privately were telling their parents, prep coaches and friends the opposite. At the time of our original articles, we stood alone and incurred massive amounts of undue criticism. Within weeks, everyone realized the Sports Journal had been 100 percent right all along ... and all alone.

* By the time the national and regional media began writing about this offensive genius at Maryland named Ralph Friedgen late in the 2001 season, we had been telling you his interesting story - and encouraging Clemson, Duke, UNC, Wake Forest and others with job openings to hire him at various times - for almost a decade.

* While everyone else ignores or gives little attention to academic issues, we report GPAs, SAT scores and graduation rates every single year.

* While most internet sites and some print publications report volumes of inaccurate and unreliable recruiting information, we give you updates straight from the players themselves and ask you to keep track of our accuracy.

We could go on and on, but our loyal readers and subscribers have their own personal lists of the articles and information that keep them coming back for more.

Perhaps more than anyone else, they know and understand our undeniable secret... 31 years later, PooP is STILL what's really happening.
