Brick's Hoops Recruiting Notebook

Perhaps you remember Tyree Evans.

At the conclusion of his senior season at Richmond (VA) George Wythe in 2003-04, this 6-3 wing guard was named the Group 3A (largest schools) player of the year in the state by the Associated Press, and he wound up that year as the third-highest single-season scorer (with 884 points) in Virginia high school history, trailing only a couple of fairly decent players, Allen Iverson (948 in 1992-1993) and Moses Malone (896 in 1973-1974). In addition, Evans’ career total of 2,251 points remains a state Group 3A record.

Because of reported academic shortcomings, Evans was a fifth-year prep at Winchendon (MA) School during the 2004-05 school year, facing excellent competition and leading the team in scoring before missing the second half of that season with a serious infection that afflicted him after his tonsils were removed. While at Winchendon, Evans signed a national letter of intent with Cincinnati (then coached by Bob Huggins, now at West Virginia) in November 2004. more...

VIRGINIA TECH: BIG CHANGES,
BIG CHALLENGE FOR BEAMER

May 6, 2008

As he untied his cleats and unfastened the straps on his shoulder pads after Virginia Tech’s annual spring game, Victor Harris looked as if he hardly had broken a sweat. GEORGIA TECH: EVERYTHING NEW FOR RAMBLIN' WRECK
May 6, 2008

Paul Johnson strives for perfection.

The new Georgia Tech head coach preaches it in his spread-option offense. It’s even apparent in Johnson’s golf game.

Johnson made a hole-in-one, the second of his life, in a late April practice round for the Chick-fil-A Alma Mater tournament.

He hopes he’ll see similar success on the field this fall... more...
